Jurien Bay Kart Club is a go kart club that races on dirt. We are part of a Wheatbelt Dirt Kart Association (WDKA). This is an association that has dirt tracks in Bencubbin, Dowerin, Goomalling and Jurien Bay.
The association has been around for 20 years with Jurien Bay joining 17 years ago. We have a total of 32 race meetings between the 4 clubs a year including one open day per club. The open days are the only time prizes and gifts are awarded. Each club holds an open day funded by community donations and is a source of fundraising for their club. All the clubs are run by volunteers. This year we used some of our funds to install lights so we can now hold twilight/night meetings in the summer months.
All clubs are family orientated and costs are kept low so it is a cheap form of motorsport for the whole family.
5.5 start at 7 years of age until 16 (normally move up at about 9 to a J)
Juniors (J) is from 9 until 16 years of age.
Senior is 16 plus years of age.
Our normal race days are not for points and we don’t have trophies at the end of our race year. We put drivers in divisions suited to their driving skill. Each division has between 5/6 races. You don’t have to spend loads of money for a kart as they all vary greatly anyway.
Our racing is all about having fun and enjoying a social day out.
Membership for the year is $75 for a family and $50 for a single.
On race day you pay a nomination fee of $20 for seniors, $15 for juniors and $10 for 5.5. This is for our track insurance that we pay each race meeting.
Once you become a member you can race at all tracks. Their nomination fee may vary from track to track.
A Go Kart will cost approx... $800 to $2000 depending on what you want to pay (more expensive doesn’t mean better kart as driving skills are all different)
You will need a full faced helmet with tear offs, gloves, overalls and sneakers.
Racing calendar for the year starts in April.
