Race Kart Specifications
Rules and Conditions
Section 1
Classes
·         Midgets age 5 to 8
·         Rookies —age 5 to 10 Except kids up to 16 can race in rookies for up to 3 meetings, upon driver assessment
·         Standard Juniors A, B, C
·         Standard Seniors A, B, C
·         Modified land 2
·         Midget, Rookies and Junior Drivers are aged between five (5) and sixteen (16) years of age and only drive standard karts. Juniors turning 16 in a race season may finish the season in their junior grade.
·         Senior standards are people over the age of sixteen (16) years of age • Modified Drivers must is over sixteen (16) years of age
·         All classes and drivers are subject to review at any time by the drivers review board
·         All novice (first time drivers) are to start rear of field for one complete race meeting
 
Section 2
Scrutineering
·           Machine examining (scrutineer's inspection)
·           All karts will be passed fit for racing by the scrutineers.
·           Drivers equipment will also be approved by the scrutineer before entering the race track —gloves, neckbrace and helmet
 
Race Kart Specifications
·           Overall length 190mm

Wheels and Tyres
·           Four (4) slick tyres
·           Rims and roller bearings
 
Protection Bars and Pods
·           All protection bars must have rounded ends and be modified into the body shape of the kart to satisfy the scrutineers
·           Side pods and bars must be fitted to all karts Must be fitted.
·           No bull bars, standard front bars only — nose cones
 
Transmissions
·           No front wheel drive
·           Centrifugal clutch and chain drive only on the rear of the kart
·           Metal chain guard must be fitted, covering clutch through shaft height (min 70mm wide) and continue to rear of kart
·           Gear boxes are not permitted
 
Steering
·           Full circle wheels only
·           Hose clamp or collar to be fitted to steering shaft
 
Number Plates
·           All karts must have number plates on both the front and the rear of the kart
·           Minimum area is 20cm square
·       Minimum number height is 12cm
·       Black numbers on yellow or white background
 
Fuel
·      Avgas or equivalent for modifies only
·      Unleaded fuel only — up to 98 octane from regular service station for standards
·      No Additives
·      No Ethanol
 
Fuel Tanks
·           Fuel tanks must be fitted with an off tap
·           Metal tanks and approved plastic tanks only
·           Pulse type Fuel pumps are permitted
·           Suitable cover plates must be fitted when original tank removed from engines
 
Ignition Switch
·           Each kart is to have a good quality toggle switch located on the steering wheel in easy access to thumb and fingers
·           No push/pull or button switches allowed
 
Brakes
·           Any efficient braking system that will lock rear wheels while in motion. Preferable brakes from that model of kart
 
General Kart Condition
·           Karts to be preferable in bright colours and must be clear and tidy
 
Section 3
Clothing
·           Suitable colourful protective clothing from neck to wrist and ankles with socks and enclosed foot wear example; sand shoes or work boots
·           Hand gloves are compulsory
·           Neck braces are compulsory
·           Overalls or race suits suitable
·           Long hair to be kept tied back or hair nets and under helmet
·           Drivers and crew are to be neat and tidy at all times
·           Enclosed footwear must be worn in pits and other designated areas
·           Must meet AS1609 requirem'ents with approved goggles or visa's
·           Helmets must be on and straps done up at all times while drivers are in kart
·           Helmets will be checked by visual assessment not date codes
Pit crew
·       To be suitably dressed preferable in overalls or protective clothing
·         Enclosed protective footwear must be worn
 
Section 4
Racing
Types of racing
·           Standard clutch start or rolling starts
 
Grid Positions
·           Grid draws will take place before the practice race if you miss it you will be starting at rear of field
·           First race and feature race will be taken off the grid draws
·           Second race will be reverse of first race draw
 
Officials — officials of the race track shall consist of
·           President
·           Vice President
·           Secretary
·           Treasurer
·         'Clerks of the course
·           Flag Marshal's
·           Scrutineers
Officials may be replaced whilst they are competing in events. Any abuse of officials will
result in a penalty.
 
Protests
Any protest arising shall be determined and settled by the stewards of the meeting before the commencement of the next event.
Penalties may range from disqualification for one or more events through to license suspension or cancellation.
 
Engine Inspection
Any competitor maybe subject to an inspection at any time any competitor who refuses their engine to be inspected shall be deemed to be in breach of rules/modifications and automatic disqualification shall apply. The officials of the meeting shall conduct the inspection the competitor will be allowed to be present at such an inspection should the competitor found to have breached rules/modifications an automatic disqualification of points shall be enforced, if the competitor to be found to have a legal engine than no penalty shall be applied and in addition a fee of $50.00 shall be forwarded immediately to the competitor in order to cover the cost of reassembling paid by the club.
 
Results
Official results will be declared only after lap scorers have completed the continuity check the commentators call does not necessarily constitute the official placing.
 
Programme Alterations
The club reserves the right to alter any part of the programme without notice.
 
Specifications, Rules, etc
All competitors are required to have sound knowledge of specifications, rules and conditions and all flags.
 
Race Entry Form
All competitors, drivers and additional drivers must complete race entry forms before entering the race track.
 
Pits
Karts may be driven at very low speed in the pit area.
Engines must not be started prior to scrutineering, or during lunch break or other specific periods.
 
There is no smoking in the pit area. Control of Race Meetings
The control of Race Meetings shall be in that of the clerks' of the course and the stewards of the meeting.
 
Changes of Karts and Parts
Competitors may change karts whilst in the progress of the meeting or competition or during races with the exception of specified or nomination events such as handicap events.
Engines and other parts may be changed to existing chassis at any time other than special events etc. And that they conform to the class the competitors is racing in and pass scrutineering. Any competitor that changes karts for an event must start rear of field for this
event and any further event until such time until they are back in their nominated kart.
 
Alcohol
No alcohol or illegal substances in pit area or on the race track. Persons or crew suspected of
consuming alcohol or illegal substances will be refused a start in any or all events and be required to leave the pit area with all equipment.
 
Betting
Betting is prohibited absolutely at all meetings.
 
Children in Pits
Children are permitted in the pit area providing they are under strict control and supervision. Unruly children and or those creating a nuisance will be asked to leave the pit area with those persons being in their charge. Children not having persons in their charge will not be permitted in the pits.
 
Supplementary Rules and Regulations
For any specific race meeting shall supply only for specified days.
 
Section 5
Flags and Meaning
GREEN — Starting Flag — Race commences at the drop of the flag YELLOW (stationary) Caution — Reduce Speed, no overtaking
YELLOW (waved) Extreme Caution — Reduce speed quickly, no overtaking YELLOW & RED (1 of each) * False start, return to the start line for restart RED — slow down and stop where you are
BLACK — Displayed with board with kart number on it, or pointing to an individual kart. Bad
sportsmanship or mechanical fault, return to pits
BLACK & WHITE (chequered) —Winning kart has completed race Lap Board — Indicated the number of laps to go
BLUE (stationary) — Faster kart close behind
BLUE (waved) — Faster kart close behind, hold line and let kart past
WHITE — One lap to go
BLACK FLAG WITH YELLOW DIAGONAL STRIPE — for a stop/go penalty, mechanical fault or warning.
 
Section 6
Race Rules
1.      Should a false start occur determined by the starter, the starter will signal official placed some distance from the start line who will in turn raise the false flag (yellow and red flag together) Drivers who will circumnavigate the circuit returning to the start for a restart for a start of the event, Drivers who are twice judged to have jumped the start will be placed at the rear of the grid for that race.
 
2.      Races will only be stopped in extreme circumstances (track blocked or kart overturned) and the kart in front at the time of the stopping the event will be determined the winner, second, third etc. following.
 
3.      No return of events under any circumstances will occur.
 
4.      In the event of two or more competitors tying for points or a dead heat places will be awarded in order of the best finish position in the final,
 
5.      Competitors having mechanical trouble on the circuit and the kart will not go, must take the kart to the infield at the point of stopping and wait until the event is over before attempting to return to the pits. Pit crew are not to leave the pits to assist the stopped kart until after the event. Driver of pit crew offenders of that kart will automatically locate that kart and driver to the rear of the grid in the next two events in which that kart and driver are taking place and if further offences occur that kart and driver will be refused a further start on that day of meeting or carry over the next at the instructions of the stewards of the meeting.
 
6.      Drivers considered to be a danger to other competitors and their machines and who are notable whilst in competition or practise to keep straight line driving, or who consistently leave the circuit, spin often, deliberately bump, use hard braking to baulk following drivers, attempt to go into opening too small, do not give way to competitors after losing their line into corners or driving in any manner other than good sportsmanship will in the first instance be located to the rear of the grid in the next two events in which that kart and driver are taking place. Should further offences occur that kart's driver will be refused a start in any further events — may be black flagged from event.
 
7.      Loss of the line into corners occurs when the leading kart's driver is not further in front than the front wheel of the kart beside and it is deemed at this point the leading kart shall be required to take a wider line. It is assumed that in this circumstance the leading driver will be aware of the overtaking kart in his/her field of vision. If it is turning away from the kart beside a smooth line must be maintained and all ruled in Section 7 subsection 6 shall apply. The overtaking kart must be fully passed the inside line kart. In the instance the overtaking driver is fully responsible for collision avoidance.
 
8.      The format of any race day will be run to the clubs discretion.
 
9.      Everyone must be signed in and scrutineered by 9am. If not you will start from the rear in each race.
 
10.Any kart's involved in an incident deemed bad enough by the clerks of the course will be rescrutineered/safety checked before being allowed to continue racing that day.
 
11.People/Children involved must be given clearance by first aid officers before racing again
 
12.No driver is to confront another driver. All issues must be handled by a clerks of the course.
 
13.To be declared a race finisher, 75% of the race distance must be completed and kart must cross the line under its own power: No pushing or wheeling kart is allowed.
