CLASS Senior Group 1C
RACE NUMBER 05
RACING EXPERIENCE I started getting into the great sport of Go Kart Racing out at the Ipswich City Dirt Kart Club back in 2015. I decided to just do a couple of years of Test n Tunes before racing.
My parents did not really want me to start racing without getting use to the track and the kart. At first they all called me the Michelin Man as i hit nearly every tyre that was around the track.
Thanks to my Pop he helped me with my first go kart for the 2017 race season in Juniors and to some friends for lending me an engine. It wasn't the best season for me unfortunately, so i decided to park my kart up to learn a bit of the timing system to help Steve out and help in the running of the Test n Tunes. Coming to the end of 2017 my Mum and Dad brought me an awesome Arrow AX6 rolling chassis and then to top it off a very quick and reliable engine.
So the next race season was my goal to be my year. The 2018 Race Season came in a hurry and my kart was ready. Round 1 of the ICDK Club Championship was held on the 20th of January 2018 and as it was first Race in Senior Group 1A I was a little nervous, but I over came my nerves and claimed my first ever win and podium finish. Coming off the track after this race I can honestly say I had a tear in my eye and so did my Mum. We had 4 races this night with the feature being rained out and I actually took out the win in each race, so I finished the night on an absolute high. I moved from Group 1A to Group 1B after the group changes were handed down which I was really happy about.
During the 2018 season I missed 2 race meets due to an issue with my engine, but it didn't take long for my engine builder Pete to have me back out on the track. During the middle of the year my mum became seriously ill and it was the day before our next race meet we were told she was not going to make it out of her coma. Dad said it was my decision if I wanted to race but I thought mum would want me to so I did. I didn't win the first round but I took out the next 3 rounds and the feature, which I won by a large margin. It was a very proud moment for me as Peter Parker gave me the checkered flag to carry around for a lap in honor of my mum. My mum survived and she was there to cheer me on for my next race and the rest of the year and what a year it was.
I finished the 2018 Season with 595 points and winning my Championship in Group 1B by 124 points. The current 2019 season I have moved to Group 1C and I am enjoying every minute I'm out there racing and chatting to my mates. I just hope this year is an even better year.
HOBBIES I love camping, spending time at the beach but most off I love racing my Go Kart
THIS YEAR'S GOAL I would like to finish off the with my kart 05 still strong and still being able to keep up with my group. Winning the Championship would be just a bonus.
