Running in a CPR engine is easy. Protect your investment by ensuring you maximise your lifespan and performance using our official CPR run-in procedure.
DURING THE RUN-IN PROCEDURE USE A FULLY MINERAL OIL OR AN OIL WITHOUT FRICTION MODIFIERS. DO NOT USE FULLY SYNTHETIC OIL DURING THIS PERIOD OF USE. We also recommend not using fully synthetic oil in your engine after the run in period - mineral oil or partial minerial oil is kinder to your CPR competition engine.
OIL YOUR AIR FILTER especially if you are running on dirt. We recommend using a pre-filter (sock) and oiling the sock as the sock will be easier to wash and re-oil.
*NOTE: Never free-rev your engine on a stand(s). Your engine is designed to be run under load, and components inside the engine which rely on the load to ensure they stay seated in their correct positoins may not locate correctly without load. This can cause damage and or failure of your engine. IF RUNNING YOUR ENGINE ON A STAND - ALWAYS ENSURE THE BRAKE IS APPLIED WHILE REVVING THE ENGINE!

Drive moderately and run the engine up and down through the rev range up to around 4000rpm at around half throttle. Doing this will assist the rings to bed into the bore and the other moving components in the engine to located and bed in correctly. It is very important to vary the RPM and do not exceed 4000rpm during this period.

Increase RPM up to about 5000rpm, varying your RPM - use around 3/4 throttle.
Run the engine at full throttle at race speed at varying RPM - if you are runnig on a circuit, run the engine at full race pace each lap. If you are running a speedway or oval, do not keep the engine at maximum RPM, allow it to run up and down around the track but use full throttle (wide open throttle)
